LOYOLA UNIVERSITY NEW ORLEANS, Loyola University New alumni Sasha Solano-McDaniel and Zachary Dowling have received merit-based Fulbright US Student Program awards for 2022-23 from the US Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. As Fulbright participants, Solano-McDaniel and Dowling will study, conduct research and teach abroad through the Fulbright US Student Program. Solano-McDaniel was awarded the Fulbright-Casten Family Foundation Award to attend the University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG) and will earn a master of gastronomy in World Food Cultures and Mobility while studying in Pollenzo, Italy. The award includes study trips and a two-month international internship or research project. Dowling will have an English teaching assistantship in the Canary Islands, aiding school teachers in English immersion classrooms, constructing lesson plans and keeping students engaged and interested in creating after-school programs. The Fulbright Program is the US government’s flagship international educational exchange program and is supported by the people of the United States and partner countries worldwide. The Fulbright Program is funded an annual appropriation by the US Congress to the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
