Three local students each earned $750 scholarships from the Monroe County Farm Bureau.

All three are pursuing careers in agriculture. Money can be used to attend college, trade school or apprenticeship programs that support the agricultural industry.

The Betty Bliss Scholarship was awarded to Sydney Masserant of Newport. The scholarship is named for long-time County Office Administrator Betty Bliss and has been presented annually since 1988.

Sydney is the daughter of Robert and Lisa Masserant. She graduated with honors from Jefferson High School, where she was involved in many extracurricular activities. She will be attending Michigan State University and studying agronomic sciences.

The Dale Lynn Mason Scholarship honors long-time secretary Dale Lynn Mason, who served the bureau for over 28 years. It was awarded to Eve Salenbien of Dundee.
