Updated Arkansas basketball 2022-23 scholarship distribution

The Arkansas Razorbacks are just over two weeks away from convening on campus to begin summer workouts in preparation for the program’s most highly anticipated season in recent memory, but as the last couple days proved, that does not mean the final roster is set in stone just yet.

Although things in the portal have slowed to a degree as the May 1 deadline for first-time transfers to enter with immediate eligibility guaranteed at their next stop has come and gone, there’s still plenty of moving and shaking going on throughout the country.

Arkansas experienced both ends of the spectrum as the Hogs lost one to the portal on Thursday in sophomore wing Jaxson Robinson but bolstered the roster roughly 24 hours later with the addition of Wichita State transfer and AAC Sixth Man of the Year Ricky Council IV.

Here’s an updated timeline of all the offseason roster moves for the Razorbacks as well as a glimpse at what could be coming up on the horizon and the most current scholarship distribution for the 2022-23 season:

OFFSEASON TIMELINE

  • 4/6: IN – Former Rhode Island forward Makhel Mitchell transfers to Arkansas

CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS

With its most recent maneuvering, the Arkansas roster currently projects to be at the NCAA’s allowable scholarship limit of 13. Should All-SEC forward Jaylin Williams ultimately opt to remove his name from the draft and return to the Razorbacks for the 2022-23 season, room would have to be made to accommodate his decision. Williams is currently scheduled to participate in the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago (Ill.) May 16-22, with a stay-or-go decision deadline set at June 1.

If Williams chooses to remain in the draft, it would still come as no surprise if Arkansas at least kicks the tires on other available players in the portal, including those who remove their names from draft consideration following next week’s set of combines.
